A pro-woman parental rights coalition launched a new digital advertisement highlighting the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and President Joe Biden‘s attack on parental rights.
The ad, entitled “All Our Kids,” is the third 60-second digital advertisement released in a series by Protect Women Ohio, aimed at defeating Ohio’s pro-abortion, anti-parent amendment, championed by the leftist organization the ACLU.
The commercial begins with recordings of President Joe Biden arguing that the state should act as a parent.
“You’ve heard me say it many times about our children, but it’s true. They’re all our children. There’s no such thing as someone else’s child. Our nation’s children are all our children,” President Biden said.
After that, several worried parents speak out about how the radical amendment proposed by the ACLU will exclude them from some of the most crucial and life-changing choices their kids will ever make.
“Do not tell me that he is not my child. Do not tell me it takes a village to raise my child. It’s anti-parent because it removes consent. And I can tell you that as a new mother, I will never allow intruders to lay a hand on my child without consent,” one mother said.
According to Protect Women Ohio, the proposed amendment will eviscerate parental rights, allow minors to obtain abortions, and even gender reassignment procedures, without parental notification or consent.
Protect Women Ohio Board of Directors member Molly Smith said that “Joe Biden and the ACLU are completely out of touch with Ohio values.”
“Parents have every reason to fear the ACLU’s extreme agenda. The state government doesn’t know what is best for our kids, we do,” Smith said.
The Ohioans for Reproductive Freedom, a coalition of radical pro-abortion activists that includes Planned Parenthood, Pro-Choice Ohio, the Abortion Fund of Ohio, the ACLU, along with the Ohio Physicians for Reproductive Rights, proposed “The Right to Reproductive Freedom with Protections for Health and Safety” which would enshrine abortion into the state constitution.
This proposed amendment would add a Section 22 to Article 1 of the state constitution. The proposal would remove Ohio’s parental notification legislation when a minor wants an abortion and the requirement that abortionists adhere to fundamental hospital health and safety standards. The proposal also aims to permit abortions after babies have heartbeats and can feel pain.
They are currently attempting to gather over 413,000 signatures from registered voters in at least 44 counties, which equals 10 percent of the votes cast in the most recent gubernatorial election before July 5th to get the amendment on the November ballot.
According to Smith, Ohioans will not support this amendment in November.
“They are under the delusion that the government can take the place of parents. It is absurd, and Ohioans will vote down the ACLU’s dangerous amendment in November,” Smith said.
This advertisement by Protect Woman Ohio is part of a $5 million television and digital ad campaign aimed at defeating this amendment.
Parents in Ohio are merely the latest victim in the ACLU’s decades-long campaign against parental rights. They fought in Alaska in 2016 to repeal the rules requiring parental notice. The following year, they asserted that parental permission rules in Indiana place an “unconstitutional burden on emancipated minors… who wish to obtain an abortion.”
The ACLU also specifically outlines its opposition to parental consent and notification laws on its website.
